Gabriel Boulianne Gobeil
Gabriel Boulianne Gobeil is the Director of Political and Public Affairs at the Consulate General of Israel in Montreal. Prior to pursuing a career in diplomacy, he worked at a boutique commercial litigation law firm.
While studying at McGill University’s Faculty of Law, Gabriel served as Class President on the Law Students’ Association, as Associate Managing Editor on the McGill Journal of Dispute Resolution, and as a Member of the Staff Appointments Committee. Prior to law school, he conducted research in the field of security studies. His most recent work was published by the Institute for National Security Studies and identified the vulnerabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles to cyberattacks.
He holds a B.A. (Political Science) from Concordia University, an M.A. (Political Science) from the University of Ottawa, an M.A. (Security and Diplomacy) from Tel Aviv University, and joint B.C.L./J.D. degrees (Common Law and Civil Law) from McGill University. He also studied International Relations at the University of Toronto and successfully completed the Quebec Bar.
Gabriel was involved in various capacities in municipal and federal politics in Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto, notably working on Parliament Hill for the Hon. Chrystia Freeland, then Minister of International Trade, and more recently for the Hon. Mélanie Joly, Minister of Tourism, Official Languages and La Francophonie.
He received numerous awards, including an Ontario Graduate Scholarship, a Desjardins Foundation Scholarship, and, in 2016, CFTAU’s Judge Barbara Seal Scholarship. Following his year abroad at TAU, Gabriel joined CFTAU in 2017 and has chaired its Scholarship Committee since.
