With COVID-19 hitting the world and social distancing becoming the new normal, plans for Hindy’s 80^th Birthday had to be shifted and our family chose to honour our mother, wife and Bubbie and friend in a manner that befits the incredibly strong, smart, beautiful and intelligent person that she is. 

As a teacher for almost 40 years, Hindy has always believed that knowing how to be a good human being is part of what makes a good education.  When teaching at Bialik Hebrew Day School, Hindy would give out an outstanding citizenship award to deserving students that demonstrated an act of kindness (a helpfulness and sensitivity to their fellow classmates.) 

So, in honour of Hindy’s 80^th Birthday, we have established the Hindy Hirt Outstanding Citizenship Scholarship award.

We felt that offering a Scholarship on the same merit to deserving students would be an appropriate tribute for this special occasion. Tel Aviv University became the perfect fit, as her love of Israel has always played a big role in her life as well as her entire family’s.
