Building Bridges Through Academic Exchange and Research

The Allies Fund is a visionary new initiative designed to strengthen understanding and engagement between Canada and Israel by fostering connections among students, scholars, and future leaders.

The Fund will include three complementary components:

    1. Allies Scholarships – Supporting non-Jewish Canadian university students who are active in campus life — leaders in student government, media, academic societies, or community service — to study at Tel Aviv University (TAU) for a summer or semester term.

    2. Allies in Research – Promoting joint research and faculty exchange between TAU and Canadian universities, including support for travel, collaboration, and shared academic projects that build allyship within the Canadian academic community.

    3. Allies on Campus – Providing micro-funding and support for student-led initiatives on Canadian campuses that bring Jewish and non-Jewish students together around learning and dialogue. These could include discussion groups, film screenings, innovation challenges, or social impact projects. TAU Canada funding enables students to lead meaningful programming on their own campuses.

Through immersive study, research, and campus engagement experiences, participants will gain firsthand exposure to Israel’s innovation ecosystem, democratic values, and diverse society. The program will foster authentic connections, challenge misconceptions, and cultivate lasting networks between Canadian and Israeli peers.

    Program Objectives

    • Promote understanding of Israel’s academic excellence, pluralism, and global impact.
    • Empower Canadian campus leaders to bring balanced, informed perspectives back to their universities.
    • Encourage collaboration and shared research between Israeli and Canadian institutions.
    • Develop future allies who value open exchange, critical thinking, and cross-cultural respect.

    Structure and Implementation

The Fund will underwrite partial tuition, travel, and living expenses for a select number of non-Jewish Canadian students each year, support research mobility and academic exchange between faculty, and provide micro-grants for student-led campus initiatives.

Recipients will be drawn from institutions across Canada, with a focus on students and scholars who demonstrate leadership, curiosity, and a commitment to dialogue and learning that transcends borders. TAU International will oversee recruitment, partnership development, and guidance for campus initiatives in collaboration with Tel Aviv University Canada.
