The Mulroney Chair in Government at Tel Aviv University

Funds raised through TAU Canada’s 2026 Changemakers Gala and campaign will significantly enhance the stature and global impact of the Mulroney Chair in Government at Tel Aviv University. Established during the lifetime of the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney—Canada’s 18th Prime Minister and a principled champion of democracy and international cooperation—the Chair reflects his enduring commitment to strengthening the bonds between Canada and Israel.

Mr. Mulroney’s longstanding support for Israel and Tel Aviv University was formally recognized when the university awarded him an honorary doctorate in 1994. This Chair stands as a living tribute to his legacy and vision for a more interconnected and democratic world.

The campaign will also support collaboration with Tel Aviv University and other Canadian universities, creating a unique bi-national platform for advancing research, leadership, and public policy dialogue. These institutions honour Mr. Mulroney’s legacy by building bridges between Canadian and Israeli scholars, policymakers, and future leaders.

The Chair sits at the Faculty of Social Sciences in the School of Political Science, Government, and International Affairs. The incumbent, Prof. Yotam Margalit, is also a professor in the Department of Political Economy at King’s College London.

HONOUREES

Mila Mulroney

Mila Mulroney is a renowned Canadian figure and philanthropist known for her work with children’s charities and health. Born Mila Pivnicki in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia, she immigrated to Canada at the age of five. She played a significant, active role during her husband Brian Mulroney’s time as Prime Minister from 1984-1993. She is the mother of four children – Caroline, Ben, Mark, and Nicolas. She holds the position of Chancellor at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

Mrs. Mulroney redefined the role of Prime Minister’s wife, notably, making the role more public-facing, engaging in social causes and philanthropy. She served as the National Chairperson of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Canada and was involved with many other charitable organizations.

Mila Mulroney is highly regarded for her compassion, warmth, and continued dedication to advancing social causes.

Caroline Mulroney Lapham

The Honourable Caroline Mulroney is the Member of Provincial Parliament for York–Simcoe and serves as Ontario’s President of the Treasury Board. In this role, she leads efforts to modernize government, strengthen fiscal responsibility, and deliver critical infrastructure across the province — including investments in highways, transit, housing, and broadband. She is also advancing data and digital transformation across the Ontario Public Service, with a strong focus on transparency and the responsible use of artificial intelligence.

Since 2018, Caroline has served as Minister of Francophone Affairs. She led the creation of l’Université de l’Ontario français, modernized the French Language Services Act for the first time in over 35 years, and expanded Francophone economic and cultural partnerships. In recognition of her work, she was named Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur, France’s highest distinction for civil and military merit.

Caroline previously served as Attorney General and as Minister of Transportation, where she oversaw the largest transit expansion in Ontario’s history. Before public life, she built a successful career in law and business, working at Shearman & Sterling, Bear Stearns, and Wellington Financial LP, and serving as Vice-President at BloombergSen Investment Partners.

A graduate of Harvard College and NYU Law, she co-founded The Shoebox Project for Shelters. She has also served on the boards of the Hospital for SickKids Foundation, the Fraser Institute, the Windsor–Detroit Bridge Authority, and the National Theatre School of Canada.

Ben Mulroney

Ben Mulroney is regarded as one of Canada’s premier television and radio hosts. He is best known as the former co-host of CTV’s Your Morning and Etalk and host of Canadian Idol, which was the most watched English-language Canadian television show on record for the entirety of its six-season run. As a preeminent host, emcee, and interviewer, Mulroney infuses galas, conferences, and every event he’s involved in with his signature humour, charisma, and warm personality.

Despite being the son of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and earning a law degree from Laval University and a history degree from Duke University, Mulroney found his calling in show business, not politics.

Mulroney got his start as the Quebec City Correspondent for talktv’s The Chatroom before joining CTV’s Canada AM as their entertainment reporter. He then joined Etalk from its inception, where he interviewed thousands of stars and reported from hundreds of red carpets, including the Oscars, the Golden Globes, the Emmys, and the Juno Awards. Mulroney has also appeared as a contributor on the weekend edition of ABC News’ Good Morning America and joined Kelly Ripa as guest co-host twice on the popular daytime talk show, Live! With Kelly.

Today, Mulroney hosts The Ben Mulroney Show on 640 Toronto, a nationally syndicated talk show that focuses on politics, media, and other hot-button issues. He also works closely with Aurora Strategy Global, a fast-growing public affairs, government, and public relations firm, and is a strategic and communications advisor to several Canadian startups, including Trexity, HOVR, Midori-Bio, and TutorOcean.

As an experienced event host, Mulroney works closely with several charitable organizations, including Cystic Fibrosis Canada and SickKids. In 2024, he hosted a fundraising “radiothon” in support of The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.

Mark Mulroney

Mark Mulroney is the Global Vice Chair at CIBC, where he works on firm-wide strategy and senior client relationships in key industries and markets.

Mr. Mulroney joined CIBC in 2025 after seven years at Scotiabank. There, he held senior roles in Corporate and Investment Banking and in Global Banking and Markets. He served as Vice Chair in both groups, led the Financial Institutions and Sponsors Coverage teams, and oversaw advisory and capital markets work with financial institutions and private equity clients. He later expanded his mandate to include senior client engagement and strategic initiatives across Scotiabank’s global wholesale businesses.

Before Scotiabank, he was Co-Head of Equity Trading and Head of Equity Capital Markets at National Bank. He began his career at Goldman Sachs in New York, later moved to RBC Capital Markets in Toronto and London, where he became Managing Director and Co-Head of Equity Agency Trading.

Mr. Mulroney is active in public and community life. He serves on the boards of The BlackNorth Initiative and the Fraser Institute, co-chairs the Boost Child and Youth Advocacy Centre Fundraising Advisory Board, and chairs the Brian Mulroney Institute of Government Advisory Board at St. Francis Xavier University. An active fundraiser, he has helped to raise much needed funds for a variety of causes including the Luminato Festival, National Ballet of Canada, Paralympic Foundation of Canada, Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal, The Mt Sinai foundation and le Centre Marie Vincent.

Mr. Mulroney has been recognized for his leadership and public service. He and his wife, Vanessa, were the inaugural recipients of the Aune Award for their contributions to Boost CYAC, and he was honoured in 2025 by the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for his allyship and advocacy in support of the Jewish community.

He graduated from Duke University in 2001 and lives in Toronto with Vanessa and their five children.

Nicolas Mulroney

Nicolas Mulroney is the Co-Founder, Chairman, CEO, and President of Bond Bakery Brands Limited.

Based in Toronto, Bond Bakery Brands Limited is an investment platform accelerating the growth of commercial bakery companies across Canada. Under Nicolas’s leadership, Bond employs more than 600 people across 8 facilities, proving that business success and positive social impact can go hand in hand. In recognition of his leadership, Nicolas was named the EY Entrepreneur of the Year – Ontario 2024 Award Winner.

He previously held roles at CIBC Capital Markets and Park Lawn Corporation, and holds an MBA from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management and a BA from Boston College. Nicolas was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 for his contributions to the community.
