The Waze Forward

Uri Levine shares his insight and experience in navigating the world of start-ups

At a breakfast hosted by Mexico Friends of TAU at the Hyatt Regency in Mexico City, Waze co-founder and serial entrepreneur Uri Levine held court to a group of 80 people.

The gathered included leaders of the Mexican Jewish community, members of the Israeli embassy, and executives from some of Mexico’s most prominent companies.

Uri, a TAU alum and current member of the TAU Board of Governors, may be best known for Waze, but it is hardly his only foray into the world of start-ups. He readily admits to his many failed ventures, but insists they served him well on his road to success. Navigating the world of start-ups, raising capital, and building teams are extremely challenging, so failure is the merely cost of doing business.

“Focus on the problem and fall in love with the problem, not the solution,” Uri said. He added that “The biggest enemy of ‘good enough’ is perfection; trying to achieve perfection could kill your startup.”
