WHO WE ARE

Tel Aviv University Canada (a.k.a. Canadian Friends of Tel Aviv University) is a non-profit fundraising organization with staff in two Canadian offices (Montreal and Toronto). TAU Canada provides direct funding support for the educational and research goals of Tel Aviv University (TAU), Israel’s largest and most comprehensive institution of higher learning. Our mission is to increase local awareness of TAU’s global excellence in academic and research programs and reunite alums and past attendees living in Canada.

THE ROLE

TAU Canada seeks an out-of-the-box thinking, fully bilingual marketing and communications professional familiar with Israel and the Jewish not-for-profit sector who will report to the two Regional CEOs. The successful candidate will develop and implement a national marketing and communication strategy and liaise with TAU’s Marketing & Communications Department to spearhead initiatives from ideation to creation and execution.

Working from either office, you will focus on working equally with our Montreal and Toronto teams. Responsible for all aspects of TAU Canada’s marketing and communications, this position will oversee all aspects, from strategy, planning, budgeting and production to advertising, public relations, and web and social media content, to expand and maximize our fundraising efforts.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the development, implementation, and execution of a long-term marketing strategy, including content development for and management of social media, web presence, advertising, messaging bi-weekly newsletters, email blasts, special events, and website.
  • Spearhead marketing and communication activities advancing our mission campaigns designed to raise funds and improve positive brand awareness by successfully telling “our story,” showcasing TAU students, faculty, and alumni.
  • Measure, analyze, and improve campaigns to maximize effectiveness.
  • Implement effective public relations campaigns promoting accomplishments and positive ongoing relationships with key representatives of the Jewish and the general media, including print and broadcast of relevant stories from TAU’s Marketing and Communications team and Spokesperson Office. 
  • Develop and oversee the production, procurement, and dissemination of all communications, including but not limited to brochures, invitations, advertising, press releases, videos, newsletters, annual reports, website, speeches for events and news articles that provide a platform for the fundraising team and to broaden TAU exposure.
  • Write and/or edit speeches and other communications for the Regional CEOs or lay leaders.
  • Work with senior lay leadership and staff to define and execute appropriate marketing and communications strategies for national and regional offices.
  • Develop work back schedules, and manage relationships with outside contractors (web developers, graphic designers). 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

 Education:

Bachelor’s degree or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience.

 Experience: 

​​​​​​​Fluency in English and French with a minimum of five years of progressively more senior experience, preferably with a community focussed organization. Experience in a post-secondary environment is an asset, as is the ability to communicate in Hebrew.

 Skills:

  • Experience with web design/content management (HTML/Word Press), web-based advertising, and analytical tools (SEO and Google Analytics) is an asset.
  • Mailchimp, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite and email marketing experience are preferred to complement your working knowledge of Adobe Creative (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). 
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience developing and managing social media presence, website metrics, Google analytics, and best practices

Director of Development

SUMMARY

Reporting to the CEO, Ottawa, Quebec and Atlantic Canada, the incumbent is responsible for resource development, donor relations, communications, events and the advancement of TAU Canada toward its mission by collaboratively developing and implementing strategies that generate awareness, relationships, engagement and financial support from within our constituency and the broader public.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Perform fundraising audit of the organization and subsequently, formulate a comprehensive development plan;
  2. Develop and deploy a comprehensive and sustainable fundraising program to identify, cultivate, and secure gifts and steward donors to TAU through TAU Canada, including but not limited to major giving, campaign(s), planned giving, alumni outreach, events, etc.
  3. While securing gifts in support of Tel Aviv University (TAU), increase public awareness of TAU Canada’s mission to acquire financial support for its programs and TAU projects as established by the Regional CEO, TAU Canada’s Regional Board of Directors and the University.
  4. Enhance the organization’s strategic communication and marketing plan by implementing donor-centric approach.
  5. Play a critical role in developing relationships on behalf of the University and in creating and fostering a philanthropic culture with TAU Canada’s different constituents, including Young Professionals and TAU Alumni.
  6. Engage and work with TAU Canada’s Regional Board and its committees. Create meaningful   opportunities for our donors and community to connect with TAU and empower them to be our best ambassadors in performing one of their core responsibilities, i.e. fundraising.
  7. Collaborate with the Regional Board and committees to develop a regional influencers database to promote and advance the organization.
  8. Assist the Regional CEO with Board development through strategic, governance and development workshops.
  9. Together with the Regional CEO and core leadership, define the organization’s strategic vision for growth and set its course.
  10. Promote TAU’ s mission, vision and values to all stakeholders and general public.
  11. Create awareness of TAU and TAU Canada’s presence in the region.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Previous fundraising experience (5 years or more), with a proven track record of meeting and exceeding targets
  2. Familiarity with Annual Fund campaigns, major gifts and planned giving
  3. An effective team member, experienced in working collectively towards goals.
  4. Bilingual (French and English)
  5. Post-secondary education
  6. Superior written communication and proposal writing skills.
  7. Fluency in Hebrew is an asset

Fundraising Database, Gift and Operations Manager

Overview and Position Summary:

Tel Aviv University Canada, Ontario & Western Canada (a.k.a. Canadian Friends of Tel Aviv University), a non-profit fundraising organization, is seeking a Fundraising Database, Gift and Operations Manager immediately. This out-of-the-box thinker will be our team’s Raiser’s Edge expert, responsible for administration, processing all donations, and managing the office.

Working with the Regional CEO and Director of Development, your role is integral to the organization’s success. A proficient multitasker with a keen eye for detail and a positive attitude, you enjoy working in a small office and, by collaborating with your colleagues, will provide a high level of donor service.

This position will also assist the Regional CEO with board activities and the Director of Development with donor stewardship and outreach.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Processes all donations and sponsorships in the database, enters all data, creates new records, updates records, coding, receipting and produces acknowledgement letters in keeping with TAU Canada’s policies and procedures.
  • Tracks donor and sponsor contacts and information as required in the database and manages timely production of regular or custom reports.
  • Analyzes and resolves any data discrepancies and conducts research when necessary.
  • Prepares donor and prospect lists for mailing, events, and stewardship.
  • Creates dashboards and dynamic reports for the fundraising team.
  • Works with our Treasurer and bookkeeper on monthly and quarterly reconciliations and for our annual audit.
  • Provides superior clerical and administrative support to the CEO, including scheduling, photocopying, filing, completing and submitting expense reports.
  • Coordinates and attends regular and special staff meetings, distributes agendas in advance of meetings, prepares minutes for meetings and distributes them to attendees.
  • Provides administrative and fundraising support for all events and other event-related activities such as RSVPs, catering requirements, etc.
  • Where necessary, creates and maintains hard copy files that mirror database information for all corporate donors, prospects and sponsors.
  • Ensures all correspondence and key publicly available information about donors is added to the database.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned to ensure the smooth and successful operation of the Tel Aviv University Canada Office.
  • Prepared to work varied hours when required.

QUALIFICATIONS 

 Education:

Bachelor’s degree or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience.

 Experience: 

​​​​​​​A minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive experience, preferably with a community focussed organization. Experience in a post-secondary environment is an asset.

 Skills:

  • Proficient in Raiser’s Edge or a similar database.
  • Experience with CRA reporting and Gifting and Receipting Policies.
  • Mailchimp, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite are an asset.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.

 Other:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and building interpersonal relationships.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail, the ability to prioritize, manage and complete multiple projects, and bring leadership to and take responsibility for developing and carrying out the marketing, communication, strategy, and plan.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize based on the organization’s needs.
  • Driven, self-starter, resourceful and able to work with minimal direction.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are assets.
