Canadian Friends of Tel Aviv University (CFTAU) operates with a mission to pursue the advancement of and raise awareness for Tel Aviv University (TAU) in Canada.
Tel Aviv University is a cultural, scientific and entrepreneurial hub in the heart of the startup nation.
Guided by a vision to make the world a better place, students, faculty and researchers are on the path to discovery on pressing issues in health, science, security, the arts and much more.
As Israel’s largest public institution of higher learning – government agencies, defense contractors and international corporations like IBM, Google, Microsoft and Intel regularly turn to TAU to collaborate on the next big idea from AI to state-of-the-art research services that only TAU can provide.
Consistently ranked in the top 20 in the world in terms of scientific citations and among the top 100 universities internationally, Tel Aviv University is also Israel’s first choice for students, and its graduates are the most sought after by Israeli companies.
In 2019, the Marker magazine published its list of 40 most influential people under 40 in Israel, and TAU Alumni had 12 entries. The university has been ranked 8th among the top 10 schools globally for producing successful, venture capital-backed founders of companies, in a survey of 13,000 entrepreneurs worldwide (Pitchbook 2019). TAU remains the only non-U.S. university to make the top 10.

Tel Aviv is a world-leading city, the capital of big ideas that creates new thrilling horizons, a hub of the Israeli Start-up economy and the home of Tel Aviv University (TAU).
In 60 years, TAU has become a top-tier university, ranking among the world’s best. TAU offers everything you admire about Tel Aviv and Israel: forward-looking, open to the world, pluralistic, ingenuous, brave and bold. TAU harnesses Tel Aviv’s energy and creative chutzpah. The result: its students and faculty pursue out-of-the box thinking in all disciplines.
No wonder TAU is the #1 choice among Israeli students and employers, and its graduates rank 8th in the world for founding successful companies.
A new home for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at Tel Aviv University
Established in 2000, TAU’s Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology is a pioneering force in Israel’s nanotechnology revolution and has not only become Israel’s “Chief Nano R&D Center”, but one of the most important in the field at large.
As a multidisciplinary research Center, its scientists are committed to advancing society by engaging in close and sustainable cooperation with industry and society.
To date, TAU’s Nanoscience and Technology Center comprises 90 research teams that have published more than 1,700 scientific papers, registered 200 patents, and provided advanced services to over 35 industrial affiliates.
A new, dedicated building for the Nano Center is now under construction.
