McGill Launches Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives Innovation Program

A strategic partnership has been created with Tel Aviv University’s BrainBoost program, a new entrepreneurship innovation center for young researchers-entrepreneurs.

The first offerings of the HBHL Innovation Program will include entrepreneurship training opportunities with the Montreal Founder Institute, and a $2 million pre-seed fund for early stage startups.   This partnership will be initiated with an innovation bootcamp for graduate students at both universities. Announcements of other new and exciting initiatives and partnerships are forthcoming in the fall of 2017.

McGill’s Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives initiative (HBHL)—a global hub for brain research, neuroinformatics and big data analysis designed to transform many brain disorders from terminal or life-long afflictions to treatable, or even curable, conditions—in collaboration with the Office of Innovation and Partnerships, is pleased to launch an Innovation Program on July 13.

The launch event will take place at WeWork L’Avenue from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This event is included as part of the off-event agenda of the Montreal International StartUp Festival, a global gathering of the world’s best entrepreneurs, founders, investors and mentors.

The McGill Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives Innovation Program works to bridge the gap between industry and academia, and connects neuroscience researchers, students and alumni with international industrial partners, start-up ecosystems, and the venture capital community to create a thriving global neuroscience innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem based in Montreal.

“The HBHL Innovation Program presents a unique opportunity for the McGill community to play a key role in the creation of a dynamic innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in the neurosciences”, said Angelique Mannella, Associate Vice-Principal, Innovation and Partnerships.
