Colin Price hails from Johannesburg, South Africa. He moved to Israel in 1982, and completed his undergraduate B.Sc. degree in Geophysics and Atmospheric Science and M.Sc. degree in Atmospheric Sciences at Tel Aviv University. He completed his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory and NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York.
He completed his Post-Doc in Atmospheric Sciences at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California. He has been a faculty member of the Department of Geophysics and Planetary Sciences at Tel Aviv University since 1995. Colin Price’s academic specialization focuses on weather and climate change, specifically the relationship between changing climate and lightening.
Most recently, he took on the role of Head of the Porter School of Environmental Studies at Tel Aviv University.
